with support The Fundamentals
The success currently being enjoyed by Royseven certainly is not what some might determine ‘overnight’! Royseven, which features Paul Walsh (lead vocals), Eamonn Barrett (Guitars), Sam Garland (guitars), Paul O’Hara (keys), Darragh Ogelsby (drums) and Bernard O’Neill (bass) have been together for over eight years now and the band’s debut album “The Art Of Insincerity” in 2006 went Top 20 on release and also features to Top 10 anthemic single “Older”. Some of the other album campaign highlights include a Meteor Award and the Other Voices Viewers Choice Award. Festivals included Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Rock AM Ring, Rock IM Park, Berlin Stars for free (Germany), Oxegen and Marley Park here at home, touring support with Bryan Adams in Germany and two headline German tours.
2011, however, has seen Royseven’s profile take on the different dimension with the release of its second album “You Say, We Say” in March of this year. “You Say, We Say”, went to No 1 in August. The album has already spawned to No 1 smash single and summer soundtrack, We Should Be Lovers, which spent a total of eight months in the Top 40 and has clocked up 200,000 YouTube views in eight months. At one point recently, Royseven had three singles in the Irish Top 40 national airplay chart (We Should Be Lovers, Dance and the soon to be released No Romance).
In parallel to an on going hectic promo schedule Royseven has had the busiest of festivals seasons, which included live performances at Oxegen, headline performance at Sea Sessions & Rose Of Tralee Festivals, @The Park with the Coronas, Clonakilty Festival, Brayfest and guesting with Kaiser Chiefs at their recent Olympia Theatre show in Dublin. The band also guested with OneRepublic on their German tour earlier this summer.
Royseven have also been signed up as the face and music (We Should Be Lovers) for Volkswagen’s online campaign for its UP! Car launch, with Dance being chosen as the soundtrack to Arthur’s Day 2011 official online campaign. All this and the band is just about to announce its own headline Irish tour for this Autumn / Winter as the band continues to split its time also with live shows in Germany, as this territory gears up for the release of “You Say, We Say”.
Despite these positive omens, the band is being far from complacent. “We’ve been through a long process since our last album in 2006”, said Paul Walsh (lead singer, Royseven). “It’s been a considerable journey, but a worthwhile one. We are now signed to an amazing label in Roadrunner Records and the support and enthusiasm they have for us is wonderful to see. However, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done and that we have to remain focused…luckily, we love a challenge.”
“You Say, We Say” was produced by Andreas Herbig, one of Europe’s most respected and successful producers who has accumulated sales of over 80million units on his work with both rock and pop artists. In fact, the day Royseven started recording their album; his work was number 1 in the album, single and radio play charts in Germany. In addition, he and his production partner Jem are the current holders of the Best Production Team Award from the German Echo’s (Brits/Meteors equivalent).
With a new record, a new attitude and a new set of muscles to flex, Royseven are ready for whatever comes their way.
